Question: What is the best way to clean a soft leather handbag?
(Posted by: Sam Morgan on 2009-05-16 10:52:14)
It is cream coloured and was a bit expensive. £80. :( Someone, kindly chucked a pint of Fosters all over it last week. I tried to wipe it off, but it is still stained. Can i clean it myself, or do i need to have it professionally cleaned? Kerry/ Ariana - I was looking for serious answers to this question!! Lol. |

Blimey, you're the cleaning expert, I'd stick it in the washer! lol I should've said cillit bang, shouldn't I? :) lol :D but actually your third answer might be right. I use johnsons baby wipes for allsorts. (lol, even in the morning, clean my sons face then his shoes! not the other way round) |

You could try a soft leather water based cleaner but you will have to test it first . Because of the colour it might be difficult to clean Especially if its dried in |

Johnson's baby wipes seem to do the trick on all kinds of stains. have been using them on my leather sofas and no harsh chemicals in them!!! |

This will depend on the type of leather you have. If the lager has soaked into the leather and left a stain then the chances are you have an aniline style leather. If this is the case then no amount of cleaning will resolve the problem, Please do not use baby wipes as they can in certain circumstances make the matter much worse. Handbags can be restored very successfully but the cost usually begins at about £50.00 so it depends whehter you feel it is worth it. You can send photos to LTT who will assess the problem and let you know what can and cannot be done. Send them to enquiries@LTTleathercare.co.uk If you need to check what type of leather you have see here lttleathercare.co.uk/ whatkindofleather.asp Hope this helps |
